The volunteer Board of Directors manages 11 portfolios, each supported by a committee of volunteer members who are responsible for providing value to our members.
We’re all about keeping you connected! Internal Communications oversees Connect Weekly, our e-newsletter which, together with the website are the go-to resources for the latest on networking events, learning opportunities, career growth, opportunities to give back, and more. We also generate Connect Quarterly − another great resource filled with knowledge, news and other relevant content to inspire your communications.
We actively connect with our members and others sharing great content and engaging with you via social media. Look out for us on Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook! We also engage and influence the media and the wider business community to raise IABC/BC’s profile as the preferred business communications community and resource for communication professionals.
We aim to strengthen professionalism among BC business communicators through accreditation (ABC), ethics and judging. For those on the accreditation journey we here to help with preparation (APP) and completion (ACP) programs. We also engage you in the ethical dimension of business communications, and provide opportunities to evaluate business communications from inside and outside through our Bronze Quill award program.
We celebrate the successes of our members’ outstanding achievements. Our Awards Committee arranges an annual awards program, manages the submission and judging process, and organizes a gala celebration to honour winners, usually in June.

Our volunteers are the wings of the plane that keep our Chapter in flight! This committee connects you with mutually beneficial volunteer opportunities that support our Chapter initiatives and members’ professional journeys. Our volunteer crew work as a team to educate members about the benefits of volunteering and to recognize volunteers for their ongoing loyalty.
When it comes to our members, we’re determined to deliver high quality content and resources. For this, we forge and maintain strategic partnerships that are mutually beneficial. Through these sponsorships we generate cash revenue (cha-ching!) and in-kind donations that support our efforts to deliver cutting-edge professional development programs and events for communicators at all levels of their careers.

You can learn from or share your skills and wisdom with others in our Mentorship Program. Or you can expand your knowledge and contribute to the learning in one of our many Special Interest Groups. You can also get involved with us as we give back to deserving local charities through our Gift of Communications Program.
Being an IABC member means access to resources, volunteer and job opportunities, and the ability to network with a wide range of industry professionals. Build your network while you have fun! We plan and host networking events including the annual kickoff, Holiday and Spring socials, and the Volunteer Recognition event. We also organize the Bronze Quill Awards Gala which brings our chapter together for an evening of celebration to recognize the communications success of local members.
