Who we are
IABC BC is a not-for-profit member association that is volunteer-run from president down to new student member volunteers. We are one of the top five largest chapters in the world. We have over 420 members across the province of British Columbia and we have been operating since 1980.
Our board structure
Our board is made up of a team of volunteer directors within specialized portfolios, who are led by an executive board comprised of our president, vice president, past president, executive administrator and treasurer. They are responsible for the development, delivery, and governance of the activities that take place within our chapter. We work together to develop the strategic plan and direction for the chapter under the guidance of our association bylaws as approved by the IABC head office.
Each portfolio director has a team of volunteers to support their work. Being a director is a great opportunity to build team management skills, and even mentor junior volunteers to grow their skills.

All members of IABC BC in good standing are welcome to apply to join our board, by submitting a nomination form. Positions for our incoming board of directors 2017-18 are NOW OPEN until Friday April 28.
Ideally we look for members who have past board experience (on our own board, or with other boards too), or have been actively involved with us in a volunteering capacity and have relevant skills to lead the portfolio of interest. But most importantly, we seek enthusiastic leaders who want to keep our vibrant chapter going!

Recruitment & commitment timeline
We are now recruiting for board members to join our 2017-2018 board. Read the above “How to apply” section to learn more about what roles are currently open and how to apply. The deadline to apply is midnight on Friday April 28. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Following your submission, our selection committee will review the nominations, and appoint the new board members in early May. Once you join the board, you will formally be voted in at our Annual General Meeting on June 22, and your term as a new board member will be from June 2017 – June 2019.
Board selection committee
Our board selection committee is chaired by Past President Catherine Pitman, and includes the incoming president and incoming past president, as well as two other past presidents from the chapter. Each nomination will be reviewed by the committee and the selected board members will be contacted in early May.
