PHSA embodies values that reflect a commitment to excellence. These include:

• Respect people • Be compassionate • Dare to innovate • Cultivate partnerships • Serve with purpose

PHSA is seeking to appoint a Chief Communications Officer to provide a superior level of strategic communications leadership to our province-wide, multi-billion dollar public sector organization.

Chief Communications Officer

Provincial Health Services Authority

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Reporting directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CCO will be an integral member of our Senior Executive Team. The focus of this mandate will be to provide the leadership, direction and expertise necessary to lead the development, transformation and execution of an overall communications strategy for PHSA. The CCO is also responsible for all aspects of communication with the Board of Directors, Ministry of Health, Government Communications and Public Engagement and government caucus.

PHSA’s CCO is a collaborative relationship builder and is an influential communications thought leader who will provide a platform to showcase PHSA’s reputation for quality patient care, research, and academic excellence. The CCO drives all aspects of the PHSA communications strategy and is responsible for overseeing communications planning, internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement, public outreach issues management and media relations. This is in addition to elements of public policy and external relations that support PHSA, agencies, services, programs and divisions, and our corporate objectives. The successful candidate will place high value on workplace culture, and will lead a dynamic, full-service team in support of the organization’s strategic objectives.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a savvy communications professional with a proven track record of developing and implementing communication strategies, inspiring and motivating high performance teams, and driving collaborative communication strategies cross-functionally within a values-based and multi-stakeholder and demographically diverse environment.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate to make a difference in the delivery of patient-centered care and will have built a successful career with at least 15 years in a senior leadership role in a complex corporate communications environment. A Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or a related field will be complemented by your demonstrated leadership abilities in the areas of engagement, culture, developing coalitions, system transformation and achieving goals.

The Chief Communications Officer carries out this role while demonstrating the organization’s core values of patients first, best value, results matter, excellence through knowledge, and open to possibilities.
