COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

(regular, full-time)

We are seeking qualified applicants for a newly created, full-time position of Communications Officer. The successful candidate will have a valid BC driver’s licence, a degree related to communications, public relations or journalism, with two years of experience in a corporate or public administration communications environment. Consideration will be given to applicants with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

You are detail oriented, innovative and engaging. You have demonstrated abilities to develop effective communications strategies, including use of social media, and employ them for diverse audiences using industry standard technologies and software. You are exceptional in all forms of communication and are comfortable speaking to groups of varying sizes. Expertly managing sensitive information while exhibiting tact and diplomacy are essential skills in this role.

The Communications Officer will conduct corporate communication initiatives and will work closely with all departments to serve the diverse needs of our residents. A key function of this role will be to effectively manage deadlines with a consistent approach and messaging to promote and build awareness of local government services.
