Description

As a recognized leader in emergency communications, E-Comm is an organization that provides first responders and the public with critical life-safety services in communities across B.C. Our people are passionate about their work and public safety, and we’re looking for two individuals to join our team who share that same spirit of collaboration and want to contribute to our vision of safer communities in British Columbia through excellence in public safety communication. Our Corporate Communications department, like our company, is growing and we're looking for two go-getter communications professionals who will jump right in and help as we work to implement some exciting public safety initiatives. We’re looking for teammates who thrive on making a difference and who embrace challenge, variety, diversity and our corporate values of respect, integrity, collaboration, accountability and service.

A little bit about E-Comm: We own and operate two emergency communications centres—one located in Vancouver and one in Saanich. Our Lower Mainland facility is the largest 9-1-1 centre in B.C.
E-Comm also provides integrated police and fire call-taking and dispatch services to more than 70 police and fire departments and owns/operates the largest multi-jurisdictional, tri-service wide-area radio network in B.C. If you happen to be someone who loves technology as much as public safety, we’re also responsible for a variety of mission-critical technology services that support first responders. We are proud to serve communities across this beautiful province through our four operational and administrative locations in Vancouver, Burnaby and Saanich.

A little bit about Corporate Communications: Our small, yet formidable (and fun!) team is expanding to include two new full-time roles. We’re looking for people to join our group who love to make a difference as much as we do. We have lots of energy and we get to do it all: internal and external communication, media relations, online and social outreach, public education, community/internal events and graphic design. We work with great people throughout our company and within emergency services.

Two communications positions available at our Vancouver location:

Senior Communications Specialist: We’re looking for someone who has lots of experience under their belt, can provide high-level communication advice and editorial services for a variety of internal and external audiences for our growing organization, has a diverse communication skill-set and is a strong and competent writer. Our ideal candidate would help build upon existing communications strategies and brainstorm creative new ways for our department to evolve, while taking a leadership role in overseeing the day-to-day requirements of the team.

Communications Coordinator: For this role we’re hoping to find the next communications all-star, a keen up-and-comer who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment and can produce a variety of internal and external communications materials. We’re looking for someone with sound writing and design skills who is comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Our ideal candidates would be high-energy and results-oriented individuals with a proven track record of working in a "hands on" capacity.

Are you ready for a rewarding and exciting opportunity? Join us in helping to create safer communities.

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

E-Comm’s purpose is to help save lives and protect property. By joining our team, you’ll have a chance to be a part of E-Comm’s vision of safer communities and contribute to the safety of British Columbians. You’ll support and champion the work of 9-1-1 call takers, dispatchers and technology personnel who also work hard to keep first responders safe.

The Senior Communications Specialist and Communications Coordinator will work with our team on a wide-range of public safety and communication initiatives, including keeping staff and stakeholders updated on E-Comm activities and services. There will be a mix of independent and team projects.

The perfect fit for us are two people who have strong attention to detail, are “hands on,” proactive and love to dig into projects. They have many good ideas and aren’t shy about sharing them. They are service-oriented and have a great sense of humour. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Spending time together as a team is extremely important to us. We always look for opportunities to connect and are known for our music trivia challenges and weekly ‘graze and game’ lunches where classic board games make an appearance. We love to laugh and are comfortable with friendly banter. Bonus points if you like breakfast for lunch, sushi and music as much as we do. This is a fast-paced environment and we will rise to the occasion together. Working in public safety is meaningful work and we take a lot of pride in that.

We wrote this together and hope you will contact us if you see yourself as part of the team.
