Your role and responsibilities:
•Provide consultant to Executive Directors, Medical Directors and other leaders at Island Health. Conduct research and analysis, assess media reports, and develop and evaluate communication strategies.

•Work with various departments and Communication, Partnerships, and Primary Care Strategy teams to engage employees, physicians, volunteers, patients, and the community, supporting cultural renewal and a positive corporate image.

•Develop and execute strategic communications plans for Island Health-wide and local programs, from goal setting to implementation and evaluation, considering audience, corporate strategy, budget and sensitive issues.

•Oversee external and internal suppliers for communication projects (writing, design, translation, etc.), managing budgets and deadlines and ensuring quality and adherence to corporate standards.

•Ensure communication materials meet corporate standards and quality expectations and provide budget recommendations to the Vice President for Communications, Partnerships and Primary Care Strategy

•Plan media publicity, speaking opportunities, community displays, social media, and advertising to enhance the corporate image and support organizational strategies.

•Attend and provide strategic communication support on regional, local, and program-related committees.

•Write and distribute articles, news releases, and background documents for internal and external audiences including government agencies.

•Develop and execute event plans and engagement campaigns to strengthen Island Health’s presence in the community.

What you need to apply:
•Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations and/or related discipline.
•Five (5) to seven (7) year's recent related experience in a communications or public affairs role in a large public sector, health care and/or similarly complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
