About the Team:

Our Senior Internal Communications Specialist is a key member of the larger People and Culture function. Our People and Culture team plays a lead role in attracting, retaining, and developing a high performing and diverse workforce. With a focus on employee experience, the team leads strategic initiatives to support our business growth, scale our culture, reinforce our brand as an employer of choice and foster workplace wellbeing.

Purpose of the Role:

We’re looking for an experienced communicator to deliver content that informs, engages, and connects our distributed workforce of more than 500 professionals nationally. Reporting to the Vice-President, People and Culture, your priorities include partnering with all areas of the business to identify communication needs, establish effective processes, and ensure that communication flows up, down and across the organization. Externally, you collaborate with our Marketing team to deliver a compelling employer brand through our employees.

This role will operate on a hybrid working model and be based in either Vancouver or Toronto.

Core Responsibilities:

Build and deliver on an internal communications strategy that shapes culture, drives engagement, manages change, and delivers results; develop proactive and intentional communications in a manner that builds transparency and trust with key audiences.
Develop and maintain exceptional internal client relations with leaders; collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate employee communications content into overall company goals; collaborate with project leads to support change management communications.
Plan and deliver on the employee experience through events and promotion of employee programs; design and manage in-person employee events including town halls, information sessions, and focus groups.
Write, edit, and produce communications for internal audiences including but not limited to presentations, scripts, briefing documents, intranet articles, and employee communications, messages, and emails; review and edit communications drafted by internal stakeholders and make recommendations to ensure messaging is consistent with internal strategy and tone.
Work with the Talent Acquisition team and others to deliver a strong employee value proposition and maximize our employer brand from the inside-out, including leading and preparing employer award submissions.
Continually improve, measure, and evaluate effectiveness of our employee communications strategy and methods; supports the build-out of the function by developing and implementing scalable best practices, processes and coaching on communication skills.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
A post-secondary degree in Communications, Journalism or related field, and 7+ years’ experience in internal, corporate, and/or employee communications. Certification with APR or IABC is an asset.
Demonstrated experience with creating, writing, and publishing visual and written content for multiple channels and audiences. Ability to translate complex and technical information for a variety of audiences. 
Experience with developing, delivering, and maintaining content for internal communication channels including Intranets, Office 365 channels, and internal social media.
Experience in developing, implementing, and measuring impactful events for internal audiences, including presentations, Town Halls, webinars, and live streams; comfortable with moderating and facilitating using Zoom, Teams, and other virtual event platforms.
Experience with content management systems, social media, and email delivery systems.  
You are highly proficient with the MS365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and using Adobe Illustrator, Canva and other tools to produce and edit content. Experience using Canva, Slido, survey tools, and video and photo editing software is strongly recommended.
Given the regulatory aspects of our industry, an awareness of enterprise risk factors and the need to ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, legislation, internal policies, and procedures is an asset.

Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a base salary range of $110,000-$130,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
