DESCRIPTION:When searching summer jobs\, co-op work terms and entry-level c
 ommunications positions\, do you ever wish you had more experience with so
 me of the requirements?\n\nPost-secondary communications programs don’t 
 always cover some of the essential on-the-job duties that are common in wo
 rkplaces. That’s why IABC/BC is pleased to host Comm 101: Learning on-th
 e-job duties. This is your chance to gain some valuable workplace skills\,
  and add them to your resumé.\n\nOn Thursday\, May 17\, come to the offic
 es of the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC (CPABC)\, where three l
 eading industry professionals will host workshops on how to create a commu
 nications plan\, news release and internal communications article. Bring y

  &amp\; External Communications Manager\, Central 1 Credit Union \n\nHeat
 her holds more than 15 years of experience in communications\, but she vow
 s to learn something new every day. She seeks creative ways to build commu
 nications strategies\, engaging and collaborating with many stakeholders t
 o deliver results. She has considerable experience in public and media rel
 ations\, internal communications and investor relations. Detailed to the c
 ore\, holding a red pen is her thing\, but she keeps that in check. In 201
 7\, Heather completed her Diploma in Public Relations through UVic and cer
 tified as a Communication Management Professional (CMP). Outside of work\,
  find Heather with family\, outdoors in the sun or snow\, studying or read

 , ABC\nCommunications Consultant\n\nNancy Painter\, ABC\, enjoys internal 
 communication more than any other business communicating. After working in
  Employee Communications at ICBC for several years\, she worked in interna
 l communications in several other industries through her consulting busine
 ss\, Paint A Story Communications. She’s won IABC awards and served on B
 lue Ribbon panels at the provincial\, national and international levels. W
 ith Erin Driscoll\, ABC\, she co-led the last ABC class that IABC/BC offer
 ed before the introduction of the current accreditation process.\n\n&nbsp\
 ;\n\nNews release writing session\nHanah Van Borek\nCommunication Speciali
 st\, Vancouver Art Gallery\n\nHanah Van Borek is Communication Specialist 
 for the Vancouver Art Gallery\, a role she took on recently since serving 
 three years as Account Manager within the Media Relations division of Murr
 ay Paterson Marketing Group (MPMG). At MPMG\, Canada’s only full-service
  arts marketing firm\, Hanah worked on campaigns for the Chan Centre for t
 he Performing Arts\, PuSh International Performing Arts Festival\, Vancouv
 er Christmas Market and many other major arts + culture organizations. Her
  experience in PR ranges from finance\, business and technology\, to arts 
 including theatre\, dance\, music\, film\, festivals and visual arts.\n\n&
