 anelists:\n\nTerri Griffith is a Professor and Keith Beedie Chair in Inno
 vation and Entrepreneurship at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School o
 f Business. She spent two decades in the Silicon Valley before moving to C
 anada. She was honoured in 2012 as a Woman of Influence by the Silicon Val
 ley Business Journal. Terri helps her students and organizations accelerat
 e performance and prepare for the futures of work. She brings energy and e
 vidence-based innovation to organizational design and technology managemen
 t through her research\, teaching\, speaking\, and writing. Her current re
 search focuses on remote and hybrid work strategies\, especially the botto
 m-up application of automation and artificial intelligence.\n\nMark Schmid
 t is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Brit
 ish Columbia. His research focuses on developing faster algorithms for lar
 ge-scale machine learning\, and exploring applications of machine learning
 . He is a Canada Research Chair\, Alfred P. Sloan Fellow\, CIFAR Canada AI
  Chair with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii)\, and was aw
 arded the 2018 SIAM/MOS Lagrange Prize in Continuous Optimization with Nic
 olas Le Roux and Francis Bach.\n\nVered Shwartz is an Assistant Professor
  of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia\, and a CIFAR A
 I Chair at the Vector Institute. Previously\, she was a postdoctoral resea
 rcher at the Allen Institute for AI (AI2) and the University of Washington
 . Vered’s research focuses on natural language processing\, with the fun
 damental goal of building models capable of human-level understanding of n
 atural language. Her research involves different problems in computational
  semantics and pragmatics\, and commonsense reasoning. In particular\, she
  is working on learning to uncover implicit meaning (“reading between th
 e lines”)\, which is abundant in human speech\, and on developing machin
