About the Opportunity

Based out of the beautiful Okanagan in Kelowna, BC, the Regional District of Central Okanagan has an exciting opportunity to join our team in a continuous full-time Communications Advisor position.
Reporting to the Communications Officer, the Communications Advisor will support corporate communications, public engagement, media relations and digital communications across the region.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide strategic communications advice and professional support for internal and external communications, helping departments deliver clear, accurate and audience-focused information.
• Develop and support communications plans, public engagement activities and engagement materials that align with organizational priorities, brand standards and community needs.
• Write, edit and coordinate content for RDCO channels, including the website, social media, news releases and other communications materials, ensuring messaging is timely, consistent and accessible.
• Support media relations, issues management, brand consistency and emergency communications by applying sound judgment, strategic messaging and professional communications best practices.

About You

You will have a degree in communications, public relations, or related field and a minimum of three years related corporate communications experience, including media relations, public engagement, web content and social media. You have excellent writing, editing, presentation and facilitations skills, and demonstrated sound judgment, discretion and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. You are experienced in using digital communication tools, content management systems, Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
You thrive in providing communications support and advice to departments across the organization, with a focus on clear, accurate and accessible information for the public, staff, media and community partners.

About the Benefits

• This position is a member of the bargaining unit CUPE 338
• Full-time work week is 35 hours per week
• Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
• Some flexibility is required for occasional weekend and evening work
• Your hourly wage rate will be $48.21
