Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. SPS is working to redefine policing with innovative new approaches and community-based solutions. POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Corporate Communications to join our Communications Section, within the Office of the Chief Constable. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, the Corporate Communications Manager provides communications support to Surrey Police Service (SPS) by developing, coordinating and implementing communications materials and plans to support organizational priorities and objectives. The incumbent will provide consistent, accurate, timely and effective messaging to both internal and external audiences and manage and elevate the SPS brand to build awareness and trust of SPS with the public and the law enforcement community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing communications, marketing and advertising plans to support SPS programs, services, events and initiatives in collaboration with others; supporting the growth and development of the SPS brand; managing all applications of the SPS brand for materials, promotional items, forms/templates, event displays, and police vehicles, equipment, uniforms and buildings; managing the content, production, distribution and maintenance of all collateral materials; developing and implementing a multi-language strategy for select SPS external communications; drafting and reviewing content for various materials; providing support and guidance to other managers and staff on how to best share their message internally and externally; managing staff within the Corporate Communications team; remaining up to date on current literature regarding communications methodologies and policing issues, and providing appropriate recommendations for improvements in communications practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of brand management and marketing concepts and theories and be experienced in developing multi-channel communications plans and corporate content for organizations. The incumbent will also have a high level of initiative, a proactive approach to problem solving, and be detail oriented with an excellent ability to multi-task. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently are essential.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field supplemented by a minimum of five years of communications and marketing experience in the public and/or private sector with one year in a supervisory or management role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS.

This position is Exempt. The salary range for this position is $104,807 – $123,302 (Pay Band M2) based on 2024 rates.
