Located in the heart of the Fraser Valley, the Abbotsford School District (“the District” or “Abby Schools”) comprises of 46 schools attended by over 20,700 students in elementary, middle, and secondary schools.

The District now seeks a new Senior Manager, Communications and Community Relations to provide critical strategic communications counsel to the executive leadership team and the Board of Education. Reporting to the Superintendent/CEO, the Senior Manager is responsible for the development and execution of high-value strategic communications that promote awareness about the school district’s vision, strengths and achievements, and enhance the organization’s overall reputation and brand. The Senior Manager, Communications and Community Relations will oversee all district communications methods and tools, including the district website, ensuring the school district maintains its status as an innovative, responsive, and accountable organization. The compensation range for this role is $102,050 to $127,562 plus benefits.

The ideal candidate brings progressively senior experience in communications or public affairs with an organization of a similar size and complexity. An exceptional communicator, the candidate brings considerable experience with the methods, practices and techniques for preparing and disseminating material for public information, promotion and publicity purposes and is well-versed in web communications and social media methods. The preferred candidate also demonstrates knowledge of current issues in public education and the ability to deal with sensitive issues, including experience responding to media enquiries and crisis communication management.
