Description

Location: Peace Region, BC (work-from-home with occasional travel for meetings and events)

Closing Date: March 31, 2022

Contract Type: Seasonal fixed-term employment or sub-contract

Term: May – Sept 2022 (5 months)

Compensation: to be negotiated

Mammoth Forestry is looking for an energetic, creative, flexible, and personable self-starter to fill the role of Communications and Event Coordinator to support a seasonal wildfire preparedness public education program.

Working with a team of Wildfire Experts and reporting to the Team Leader and Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a communications plan and marketing strategy for a public education campaign related to community wildfire preparedness
  • Organize, plan, and execute events related to community wildfire preparedness, including information sessions, awareness events, trade shows, neighbourhood workshops, training events, etc.

Required experience, skills, and qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience in communications, marketing, public relations, and event management
  • Ability to design, manage, and implement social media and other online content
  • Ability to create compelling news releases, PSAs, articles, collateral materials, etc.
  • Professional verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to speak in public and take a leadership role at meetings and events
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Ability to navigate a complex stakeholder environment with social and political awareness
  • Ability to work within a budget

Preferred experience, skills, and qualifications:

  • Experience developing and implementing communications plans and marketing strategies
  • Experience in public education campaigns and community outreach programs
  • A general knowledge of wildfire prevention (training provided to those with no previous wildfire experience)
  • Experience in landscaping, forestry, or vegetation management
  • Experience in customer service and volunteer management
