The City of Vancouver has two openings for Communications Coordinators in the Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability portfolio. These are temporary, full-time positions for a period of 12 months each; one position will have a particular focus on strategic communications support for the Housing Vancouver Strategy, while the other position will support the general communication needs of this portfolio.
Both positions report to the Manager, Communications responsible for the portfolio within the Corporate Communications department and work directly with business area management and other City staff.
These Communications Coordinators are responsible for managing critical issues related to key strategic initiatives that are highly visible, time sensitive, and carry a high degree of exposure for the City of Vancouver’s operations and reputation.
These positions have a strong strategic focus, including: developing communications strategies that support successful business outcomes; creating, or supervising the creation of various communications tools to inform the public about key initiatives, their expected impacts and the opportunities for public involvement; liaising with the media on issues and questions related to the key initiatives, and arranging interviews with staff or elected leaders as appropriate; developing, or supervising the development of a wide range of written materials, including news releases, backgrounders, presentations and web and social communications and liaising with other government agencies and stakeholders as required.
