Job Overview
The Communications Coordinator writes and edits investor education materials, and works on various education projects, events, and outreach activities. This position supports the Manager, Investor Education and Engagement and senior communications staff in the branch. The successful candidate will also provide support to others in the Communications & Education division when required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writes and edits investor education web content, articles, brochures, memos, video scripts, and social media content
- Assists with administration of the BCSC’s social media channels, including daily monitoring and regular posting of content
- Participates in development of digital campaigns and website improvements to support the BCSC’s education outreach programs
- Provides quality assurance support for website and digital initiatives
- Works with stakeholders and outreach partners on events, meetings, and other related activities
- Assists with vendor-created videos, and works on in-house video and photography production
- Publishes HTML content, PDFs, and digital content to InvestRight.org, the BCSC’s intranet and corporate website
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong writing, editing, and proofing skills, including writing for websites, blogs, and newsletters
- Experience with content management systems (WordPress, Ektron) and Hootsuite
- Familiarity with social media websites, content strategy, digital marketing, and social ads
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.)
- Experience with corporate video production, video editing, and photography considered an asset
- MS Office skills including spreadsheet development and management, and database management
- Experience producing Google Analytics (GA) reports and analyzing GA data
- A team player and self-starter, who can work independently and manage multiple assignments
- Financial services industry experience or Canadian Securities Course completion considered an asset
