Applications are invited for the position of Communications Coordinator for School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson).
Kamloops-Thompson School District No. 73, located in British Columbia’s Southern Interior, operates in a region of about 103,000 people, with its head administrative office in downtown Kamloops.
School District No. 73 is a diverse and inclusive organization providing public education programs in the City of Kamloops, and the municipalities of Chase, Barriere, Logan Lake, and Clearwater as well as many smaller communities west to Savona, south to Westwold and north to Blue River. The District’s student population is approximately 14,675, including 406 continuing education and adult learners and over 1,000 students in French Immersion. The district employs more than 1,800 full and part time educators and support staff working collaboratively with external education partners.
Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, the incumbent will ensure accuracy and accessibility of the District’s website, social media platforms, intranet and related communications while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information. The incumbent maintains familiarity with District operations, policies, and best practices for digital communications for internal and external stakeholders. Work is varied and requires independent judgment and initiative supplemented by a good understanding of the organization and operations of the school district. This position will be required to work various hours of the day to accommodate meetings and activities that may fall outside of normal working hours.
The successful applicant will possess a degree in communications or journalism or equivalent, including course work in graphic design, digital media, photography or video, and have three (3) years proven previous communications work experience.
