Simon Fraser University is looking for a Communications professional for an 18-month temporary position.
About the Role
The Communication Officer supports the tactical and strategic needs of both Safety and Risk Management (SRS) and IT Services (ITS) portfolios across all three SFU campuses. In alignment with university priorities and the vision and goals of both SRS and ITS as well as the Vice-President of Finance and Administration (VPFA), the Communications Officer develops and implements strategic communications and marketing initiatives to deliver effective, timely, informative and meaningful communications for both internal and external audiences. The role works as part of the VPFA Communications and Marketing team as an advisor to both SRS and ITS portfolios as well as a liaison with SFU Communications and Marketing.

You are a pro at communicating complex subject matter in an environment where dealing with sensitive information and fostering critical relationships is key. You are a consummate team player, rolling up your sleeves to support your team and leaders when needed, living your values and contributing to a great work culture in the process.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or a relevant discipline and four years of related experience in developing communications strategies or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of strategic communications, brand and marketing theory practice.
- Ability to develop, measure and refine communications and marketing campaigns in support of portfolio, VPFA and institutional priorities.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
