The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a Communication Specialist (Writer) to join our Communications team.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Creative Services the Communication Specialist will play an integral role in development and delivery of engaging and consistent communications programs that support the company’s mission and strategic goals.

What your day looks like:
Working closely with subject matter experts throughout the organization, you will envision and write a wide range of accurate and engaging content for distribution across multiple channels, including:
- Sales and marketing materials, including online and traditional advertising campaigns, collateral (brochures, fact sheets, sales aids etc.), presentations, educational content, content marketing materials, etc.
- Website content
- Video scripts
- Email marketing initiatives
- Business backgrounders
- Press releases and media backgrounders (as required)
- You will also require editing and updating existing content as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism
- A minimum 5 years of full-time experience in communications roles which includes being part of a corporate or agency communications team and/or marketing team.
- Ideally looking for someone who is very comfortable in the online world and either has experience (personally or work-related) using an online brokerage (or robo advisor) and/or is passionately interested in this area
- Loves creating great copy; ability to write in a variety of formats and styles for multiple audiences, with excellent control of grammar and style
- Ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically with diverse stakeholders
- Strong business acumen, with insight into consumer behaviour required
- Relevant experience writing smart, impactful B2B and B2C communications; must be able to communicate technical information in a simple, easy to understand manner
- Financial designation such as a CFA an asset, but not required
- Experience developing online content and familiarity with best practices
- Experience in writing for search engine optimization an asset, but not required
- Media relations experience an asset, but not required
- Strong verbal communications skills
- Self-starter with strong initiative and creativity
- Ideally a conceptual thinker with an aptitude for bringing great ideas to life
- Thrives in a high-growth, entrepreneurial, and professional environment
- Fluency in written and spoken French is an asset, but not required
- Additional Considerations:
- Basic level of financial literacy (at minimum)
- Up-to-date knowledge of sales and marketing principles and practices
- Understanding of current audience demographics and psychographics
- Understanding of the retail investing environment
