Description

The City of Pitt Meadows is seeking a dynamic full-time Digital Communications and Engagement Coordinator to join the Communications Team.

Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Community Engagement, this position assists with developing, implementing and assessing strategic communications and engagement strategies as well as monitoring and identifying emerging issues.  Strong writing skills are the cornerstone of this role, as the incumbent will develop, write, and edit a myriad of promotional materials and craft key messages for dissemination across a variety of media channels.

The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials and techniques used in this work, including sound knowledge and ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans, objectives and strategies.  Good writing skills, a sense of humour and the ability to be comfortable in a fast-paced environment are essential for this role.

The incumbent will assist with the City’s digital communications including social media, and provide oversight of the website layout, style and content.  In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for developing web pages and providing guidance to staff on editing and formatting to ensure consistency and compliance with established standards. Skill in the use of software applications used to do this work is expected.

The successful candidate will have strong political savvy, and be effective at establishing and maintaining strong working relationships, and communicating effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts including numerous City Departments, Pitt Meadows residents, community organizations, and elected officials.

The work requires a self-starter and someone with the ability to exercise of considerable independent judgement and action within the limits of applicable policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have completed a Diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  A B.C. Driver’s license is required.
