Digital Communications Specialist 

(Full-time Permanent)

Starting Salary $81,344 to $95,699

Location: District Office-1580 West Broadway, Vancouver BC

We are looking for a Digital Communications Specialist who will work within our award-winning communications team and be responsible for a wide range of communications activities, including digital storytelling and marketing, social media, strategic communications planning and administrative organizational support.

You are a natural born storyteller and adept at using a variety of mediums to convey a message to diverse audiences. From videos to blog posts, reels to infographics, podcasts to analytics reports, you convey a message that is authentic, engaging and informative. You bring a strong work ethic and work well within a collaborative, can-do, fast-paced and results-oriented work culture.

The successful candidate will have a college diploma or degree in communications and have at least five years of experience in communications – preferably in a large public sector environment. Your considerable knowledge of strategic communications planning and digital communications will support you in the planning, coordinating, organizing and producing communications collateral to engage various audiences on multiple channels.

Your scrupulous attention to detail will enhance your strong written communication and editing skills, while working under tight deadlines to ensure confidential and sensitive information is handled in an appropriate manner. You possess the ability to juggle multiple priorities while working independently as a member of a team. It is imperative
that you maintain a high degree of judgment and discretion in your decision-making process.

You are a creative and organized individual who is eager to:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans with a keen focus on marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and reach.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of communication efforts across various digital platforms.
  • Create engaging content, including written and multimedia materials, to convey key messages and promote brand journalism.
    Manage and maintain our organization’s digital presence, including website, social media channels and podcast.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders, understanding their communication needs, and delivering effective solutions.
  • Analyze communication metrics and data to assess the performance of campaigns and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Experience with web-based applications, digital engagement tools, social media platforms, content management systems and web analytics are essential.
  • You have extensive familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite as well as strong photography and video production skills.
  • The successful candidate must also be available to work some evenings and weekends.
  • A class 5 driver’s license is required as you will travel to schools to cover good news stories and events.
