About the Opportunity

The role is responsible for leveraging research, analytics and insights to create iIntegrated plans that connect digital, social, mobile, email and traditional efforts that support high-impact projects that are integral to the achievement of Innovate BC's organizational goals and priorities.

In addition, the Digital Marketing and Brand Manager will manage the design and art direction of core communications—including digital marketing, program and partner communications, and event promotions. Working in a highly collaborative manner, a primary focus of the role is to define the look and feel of all Innovate BC corporate imagery through experimentation, critical thinking, and extraordinary attention to detail, all the while ensuring that designs meet Innovate BC’s brand guidelines. In this role, the Digital Marketing and Brand Manager is instrumental in developing work that inspires both current and potential employees, partners and clients.

Duties + Responsibilities

Digital Leadership:

  • Develop the strategic direction for the organization's digital channels (website, microsites, blogs, social media channels, etc.
  • Develop and manage event digital marketing campaigns.
  • Provide thought leadership in areas of digital analytics and digital strategy.
  • Monitor digital spending initiatives and channel performance metrics, as well as set expectations and standards for tracking performance.
  • Develop and execute content marketing strategies aimed towards generating brand awareness and inbound leads (for a variety of programs and Initiatives);
  • Leverage social media channels and SEO strategies to create brand awareness, drive high quality traffic to our website.

Digital Optimization:

  • Improve and expand our digital presence to communicate with key audiences, including, but not limited to technology companies, leaders in traditional and emerging industries, government, researchers, industry partners, as well as national and international stakeholders.
  • Work closely with program leads to review, plan, execute and evaluate digital strategies.
  • Conduct and oversee market segmentation research to provide a basis for prioritizing long- and short-term digital communications efforts.
  • Track digital metrics on a monthly basis.

Brand:

  • Own the Innovate BC brand, ensuring content across all Innovate BC platforms, as well as media published by external partners and sources, adheres to and compliments the organization’s brand with the purpose of growing our profile and public awareness of our programs and opportunities.
  • Consistently maintaining and updating the brand and assets to ensure Innovate BC's design collateral stays on top of trends and reflects the current state of the province's tech ecosystem.
  • Manage content creation for multiple projects including program marketing, impact reporting, events and other projects design deliverables including website, event materials, emails, print and digital advertisements, and one-pagers.
  • Manage relationships with printers, vendors, contracted agencies, and partners to ensure we are executing seamlessly.
  • Use Adobe suite to design and edit graphics for print, web, and social media use, and event collateral (signage, banners, printed materials, etc).
  • Source and manage branded merchandise for Innovate BC.

Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of marketing experience conducting market segmentation, competitive and situation analysis;
  • Well-developed knowledge of digital and content marketing strategies and frameworks, Including Inbound marketing methodologies, techniques and tools (e.g. Hubspot);
  • Significant expertise in data analytics, digital reporting, and calculating and demonstrating ROI on digital media buying;
  • Writing experience in communications and multimedia (web, print, advertising, email, etc.);
  • Demonstrated experience using blogging, direct email and social media platforms;
  • Experience with enterprise-level CMS and development platforms;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Strong art direction, design, artistic, typographic, and layout skills
  • Must be well-versed in creating for and delivering into multiple platforms (digital/visual merchandising/print) and having an informed point of view in interactive and emerging platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and flexible personality with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, flexible and a collaborative team member
  • Photography experience an asset
  • All round team player with a willingness to help others
  • Experience with Mac OS considered an asset
  • Fluent in usability best practices in online communications planning including: website optimization, pay-per-click and banner advertising, mobile web and social media.
  • Knowledge in web analytics, SEO, web metrics planning and testing, optimizing online marketing campaigns.
