$90,900.08 – $118,400.03 annually

The Financial Institutions Commission (“FICOM”) regulates pension, financial services and mortgage brokers industries in British Columbia. This regulation is designed to protect the public against the insolvency of financial institutions, prevent improper market conduct in the financial services and mortgage broker sectors, provide deposit insurance for members of B.C. credit unions and ensure the solvency of pension funds. 

The Director, Communications is FICOM’S (Financial Institutions Commission) primary media contact and spokesperson responsible for media relations, strategic communications planning, brand development, internal communications, and issues management, with a focus on the development of strategies for engaging with consumers and the public. Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or English and 
  • 7 years experience in public relations, corporate communications or media relations in a large organization. Preference may be given to experience in a regulatory/governmental environment.
  • 2 years demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
