Description

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) invites qualified applicants to apply for the temporary Manager of Communications (exempt) position within the CRD. The 18-month term is expected to commence mid- March. This position will be situated in Williams Lake, BC, a thriving community with all major amenities.  The Regional District is known for its agreeable climate and a vast array of outdoor recreational opportunities.

DUTIES:  Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Manager of Communications is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and budget control of the internal and external communications program.  The Manager of Communications provides expert advice to senior management and elected officials on communications and public relations policies and strategies; write, coordinate, and evaluate various communications activities within deadline, including briefing documents, speeches, public presentations, press releases; and manage website and social media sites.  The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism, with related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. SALARY:  This is a temporary full-time position offering a competitive salary.

WORK SITE LOCATION:  Cariboo Regional District Office, Suite D, 180 3rd Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC.  The position may require some travel throughout the CRD for meetings.  Applicants must have a valid class 5 driver’s license.  The applicant will be asked to provide a criminal record check and a BC Driver’s License abstract.

HOURS OF WORK:  The regular hours of work for this position are 37.5 hours per week.  Flexible work hours, including some evenings, and weekends may be required.
