With assets under administration of $145.6 billion, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Since its inception in 2000, BCI has grown significantly and is now regarded as one of Canada’s most influential financial institutions with a diverse and global mix of assets. Over the past three years, BCI has more than doubled in size as the organization evolves to manage more assets in-house and to expand into new and existing asset classes such as derivatives, private equity, infrastructure and real estate. BCI is at an exciting time in its history. The goal is to position the corporation to manage over $200 billion in assets over the coming years and BCI is on pace to reach 600 employees over the next few years.

With the growth and transformation of the organization, BCI recognizes the importance of communications to its 34 institutional investor clients who have entrusted BCI to manage their capital. As a result, the organization recently created a new Client Communications team to provide better communication service and support to their clients. The opportunity to join this team as a Senior Client Communication Specialist will mean you help build out of this critical function in a hands-on role. You will produce and support the production of material as well as contribute to the development of BCI’s overall client communication strategy.

The ideal candidate will be a communication, public relations or investor relations professional. They will have developed written and engaging content for diverse audiences. They will possess superior writing and editing skills and an ability to express complex concepts in a clear and concise fashion to senior management and stakeholders. They will want to understand how to tailor a message to executives of large, complex organizations as well as to ‘lay’ audiences. Experience and exposure to financial services, investments or capital markets would be a tremendous asset. The Senior Client Communications Specialist must also have a strong orientation toward collaboration and be able to work with internal and external stakeholders.
