Description
We are looking for a Senior Communicaitons Specialist, with a passion for employee engagement, who has outstanding writing and project management skills for a 12-month temporary term position in our Head Office, located in Vancouver, BC.
The Senior Communication Specialist, Employee Engagement will be reporting to the Manager, Internal Communications, and will be responsible for planning, writing, coordinating, and project managing strategic communications that drive employee engagement in Teck initiatives and enhance the employee experience.
This position will lead the development of Teck’s quarterly employee magazine as both project manager and managing editor, and will support major change-related communications for the organization.
Responsibilities:
•Lead the development and publication of Teck’s quarterly employee magazine, including writing, editing and project management
•Develop and execute communications strategies that drive employee engagement in corporate initiatives, including writing, project team/senior leadership engagement, and project management
•Develop and execute communications strategies that drive employee engagement in a wide range of multi-year corporate change initiatives, including writing, project team/senior leadership engagement, and project management
•Develop and deliver communications materials to senior management and general managers that support business unit and operation-level employee engagement, including video production, presentation development, senior leadership engagement, and project management
•Develop and deliver communications materials that support employee engagement and corporate citizenship initiatives, including creative development, writing, video production and project management
•Develop and oversee content and editorial calendar
•Provide writing support for a wide range of digital, print, social and presentation applications
•Provide strategic communications advice to senior leaders on change initiatives that impact employees
•Provide support to the crisis communications team, as required
•Provide support other major projects and initiatives at Teck as required
Qualifications:
•Minimum 8-10 years experience in the field of corporate communications
•Post secondary education in the area of communications, public relations, or a relevant field is considered an asset
•Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
•Strong demonstrable ability to distill complex information for communication to a range of audiences
•Solid project management skills, and the ability to set and manage multiple priorities based on relative importance and urgency
•Thorough knowledge and understanding of all media used in organizational communication
•Strong process orientation, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
•Strong demonstrable computer skills, in particular with Word, PowerPoint and Excel
•Ability to work across all levels of the organization, and coordinate the work of other internal resources
•Demonstrates Teck’s commitment to safety and sustainability
•Must be flexible and perform well in a team environment.
•Proficiency in Spanish an asset
