Senior Internal Communications Lead - Full Time Temporary

Leads the development and implementation of internal communications project strategies and plans, grounded in best practices, analytics, and research focusing on the employee experience and engagement. Plans, manages, and executes internal communications about special projects and programs. Manages the delivery of specific program or project communications within CMBC, including developing and implementing communications items of a sensitive, controversial, or confidential nature. Contributes as an active team member in reviewing/editing/interpreting CMBC’s plans, policies, or other procedure documents, including annual corporate business plans.
Leads the development and implementation of internal communications projects strategies, grounded in best practices, analytics, and research that focuses on the employee experience and engagement. Presents, reports, and provides updates to senior leadership on a regular basis. Attends executive management meetings and focus groups, as required.
Develops and implements project initiatives that are in compliance with CMBC’s collective agreements and/or company policies, ensuring that projects remain on schedule and within the permitted budget.
Leads the strategic planning of special projects. This includes outlining the scope of collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, determining project objectives and measurements, defining budget and resource considerations, and conducting project-related review plans. Analyzes costing data that is relevant to special projects and programs.
Contributes as an active team member in reviewing/editing/interpreting CMBC’s plans, policies, or other procedure documents, including annual corporate business plans.
Plans, manages, and executes internal communications that are related to special projects and committed to enhancing the overall employee experience, inclusive of developing and assessing employee understanding of operations, corporate programs, policies, initiatives and improving employee engagement and retention. Participates in tasks associated with employee outreach and project promotion.
Proactively undertakes a consistent review that measures the effectiveness of employee-facing communications projects with the aim of continuously looking for opportunities of improvement. Identifies project and organizational gaps and risks, recommends mitigation strategies to the manager and/or senior leadership, and implements corrective actions.
Builds strong working relationships with stakeholders from across the enterprise to learn new information and identify focus areas for employee-facing communications projects. Leads communications project meetings, focus groups, and workshops to gather information and feedback. Works with external stakeholders to provide resolution towards identified project issues.
Liaises with senior leaders and develops internal communications pieces that are aligned with business goals. Produces reports, briefing notes, and presentations for senior leadership and other internal and external stakeholders, inclusive of the CMBC Board of Directors, TransLink Board of Directors, and committees/working groups.
Plans, writes, edits, and coordinates the release of internal communications materials. Manages the delivery of communications respecting project-related services within CMBC, inclusive of developing and implementing communications of a sensitive, controversial, or confidential nature.
Monitors the delivery of internal communications through different communications channels, including digital and print materials and in-person event, to support continuous improvement and the achievement of organizational objectives.
Provides advice and counsel to exempt or non-bargaining unit employees on key communications of messages that may directly or indirectly affect bargaining unit employees. Such communications may include special projects, corporate planning initiatives and changes that impact operational requirements.
Assists with the management of the CMBC Communications team, inclusive of participating in the hiring and selection of departmental staff, training initiatives, coaching, employee development, and the supervision of work.Qualifications Education and Experience:
The competencies for this position would be acquired through successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field plus a minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in Communications, Corporate Communications, or Public Relations preferably within a large public organization.
· Advanced written and oral communication skills to develop and implement communications strategies, plans and a variety of communications materials, including web, print, and digital content.
Advanced knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques of strategic communications.
· Advanced interpersonal and relationship building skills with ability to recognize political and other sensitivities and develop credibility with internal stakeholders through communication.
· Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills to plan, develop and implement multiple projects/programs related to Communications.
· Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Intermediate skills in people management and supervision.
· Advanced working knowledge of electronic publishing and social media.
· Advanced knowledge of standard office tools including word processing and presentation software.
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. 37.5 hours per week.
This position is full time temporary for 12 months and will be based out of CMBC Gateway Surrey location.
This position offers the flexibility of working both onsite and remote within BC
Rate of Pay
Starting at $92,072 per month.
