Description:

The BC Pharmacy Association is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The Communications Coordinator is a generalist who supports the Communications department in key areas: content development, web work, social media, and internal and external content and events.

You have experience in core communications competencies – outstanding written, editing and verbal communications skills -- and have experience in digital communications. You are organized, a natural problem solver and enjoy working in a team environment and have a keen interest in understanding health care and our profession. You thrive in a flexible environment and love working toward deadlines. Given the profile of the work we do, you also can handle confidential and sensitive information and handle issues with diplomacy and tact.

About the Opportunity:

We have an immediate opening for a full-time (37.5 hours a week) position that reports to the Director, Communications. You’ll be working alongside the Communications Manager. Main responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the delivery of email campaigns, member bulletins, and other member communications.
  • Ensuring the Association’s website and social assets are up to date by creating and updating pages.
  • Contributes to writing, editing and proof-reading content produced by the Communications team (press releases, member magazine articles, website, speeches, annual reports, presentations, fact sheets and newsletters,).
  • Conducting research and updates corporate information, like boilerplates, key facts and the Association’s stylebook are updated.
  • Helping coordinate internal and external events like pharmacy tours and the annual conference and awards gala.
  • Writing and editing web and social media content.
  • Reviewing analytics and gathering stories that showcase our work for Board an annual report.

A key project over the next year will be in helping to update our digital presence, working with consultants and the Communications team.

Desired Experience/Education/Skills

  • A degree in Journalism or Communications with 2+ years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience working in marketing, social media, content development, PR or journalism.
  • Outstanding editing and proofreading skills, including strong command of grammar and punctuation, and a commitment to clear, concise, and accurate language/content.
  • Experience creating content for digital channels.
  • Experience in using content management systems. (Ex: Drupal, WordPress, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an integral member of a communications team; strong interpersonal skills and customer-service orientation.
  • Curiosity to learn new things with a keen interest in understanding B.C.’s health-care system, the pharmacy business and profession are essential in this role.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, working knowledge of Adobe Creative software (Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat Pro) and social media channels.
  • The ability to travel 15 per cent of the time within B.C.
