Description

The HR Communications Contractor provides advice and guidance, develops communication plans and practices in support of the College’s strategic goals and the HR Plan. The HR Communications Contractor advises the HR Management Team to ensure communication and marketing best practices are employed in all facets including confidential and sensitive information and materials focused on policies, procedures, collective agreements and legislation. In addition, the HR Communications Contractor will partner with the HR Management Team and the Marketing and Communications Office on more complex or sensitive matters.

Responsibilities:
Plans, manages, and executes internal communications committed to enhancing the overall employee experience, inclusive of developing and assessing employee understanding of operations, College programs, policies, initiatives and improving employee engagement and retention.
Develops and implements HR communications in compliance with Douglas College’s collective agreements and/or College policies.
Leads communication for HR strategic initiatives and special projects. This includes outlining the scope of collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, determining project objectives and measurements, defining budget and resource considerations, and preparing and owning communication plans.
Assists with the HR department social media accounts focused in attraction, recruitment, and employer branding.
Plans, writes, edits, and coordinates the release of internal communications materials.
Produces reports, in partnership with AVP, HR, briefing notes, and presentations for senior leadership and other internal and external stakeholders, inclusive of the Board, PSEA, and committees/working groups.
Contributes as an active team member in reviewing/editing/interpreting HR plans, policies, or other procedure documents
Manages the HR communication channels including, DC Connect, Website, etc. and works collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications Office on all projects.
Liaises with the HR Management Team and Advisory Services to develop internal communications pieces that are aligned with College goals.
