Marketing Associate

Full-Time Contract Position

 

Ocean Diagnostics Inc. (ODI) is an environmental impact company that develops technologies and services to collect and analyze microplastics data. With sufficient data, regulators can make informed decisions to protect the planet from plastic pollution. In the summer of 2021, ODI will launch its first products to market and, in partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada, run a nation-wide campaign to educate and engage Canadian citizens on the plastic pollution problem.

 

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Associate will support the company’s overall strategic marketing plan, product launches and campaigns. She/he/they will develop product materials, including training materials and product guides; oversee digital marketing, including SEO, paid ads, video, email marketing, websites, social media, lead generation and engagement; and pitch to influencers, news media and relevant publications.

 

The Marketing Associate is strategic, creative and results-driven and has exceptional writing and editing abilities. She/he/they will create inspiring, educating and on-brand written and visual content, develop article outlines and video storyboards, conduct interviews, translate scientific information to easily digestible content, fact check, edit and publish content to a variety of channels.

 

ODI is a fast-paced start-up environment. The successful candidate will work well independently and with the team, adapt to the changing needs of the company and manage his/her/their own schedule while ensuring that multiple projects and deadlines are met on time.

Position Requirements

  • Certificate, diploma or degree in journalism, business, marketing, English, communications or another relevant field
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status
  • Knowledge of communications and marketing principles
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing and editing skills
  • Excellent understanding of and experience with digital marketing
  • Ability to work well under pressure, independently and with the team
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet evolving start-up needs
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at a time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Canadian Style Guide
  • Experience developing marketing and campaign strategies
  • Experience with project management tools (Asana, Trello, etc.) and editorial calendars
  • Experience with Hootsuite or other social media management tools
  • Video, photography and design experience
  • Media relations experience

 

About the Position

  • Full-time contract from July 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 with the possibility of extension
