MANAGER, MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

ABOUT US
Through collaboration, inclusion and accountability, viaSport leads the development and growth of amateur sport in BC. We help bring more families to the field, fans to the stands, athletes to the podium and sporting events to the province. Created as a legacy of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, viaSport British Columbia acts as the Province’s lead agency to steward the growth and development of amateur sport in BC.

Our aim is to make British Columbians healthier and better connected through safe, inclusive, and welcoming sport experiences. We work to increase public trust in the power of sport and create economic growth and social development through greater access. We help the amateur sport community connect to partners, funding, resources, and other capacity-building initiatives.

As a non-profit organization with an operating budget of approximately $2M, we manage government’s investment of $14M in funding.

JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for managing and implementing the strategies outlined in viaSport’s marketing and communications plans. This person will lead a small team of qualified, motivated individuals in establishing the team and departmental goals to drive organizational strategies ahead. Some marketing goals include: maintaining brand integrity; positioning viaSport as a trusted source for knowledge and advice, and; reinforcing the organization’s position as a leader in amateur sport.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Contribute to, execute and monitor annual strategic marketing and communications plan, and evaluate and report on specified performance goals.
• Work with the marketing and communications group, and other departments, to set the yearly calendar for marketing and communications.
• Ensure other departments are engaged with the annual marketing and communications plan.
• Actively lead, manage and inspire the marketing and communications department to accomplish its goals through initiatives consistent with organizational goals and functional strategies aligned to our brand.
• Collaborate and support other departments through marketing and communications initiatives to help them achieve their goals.
• Conduct research and incorporate best practices in the development, and implementation of new marketing and communications initiatives, such as social media marketing, email marketing and other digital marketing and communications initiatives.
• Create, develop and maintain external supplier relationships.
• Effectively manage budgets.
• Manage partner relationships through communication and collaboration.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years of work experience effectively managing a team
• Bachelor/Master's degree in Business, Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent.
• Work experience in the not-for-profit sector is considered a strong asset.
• Experience in corporate communications, marketing, original writing and editing, and some public relations would be an asset. Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
• Demonstrated proficiency in digital internet marketing techniques, technologies, and solutions.
• Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage and co-ordinate the end-to-end development process while meeting deadlines and budget requirements.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• Hybrid work arrangement at home and at the office location: 1351-409 Granville Street, Vancouver.
• Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
• The compensation package includes a Salary range of $65,000 to $80,000 annually a comprehensive extended health benefits program, RRSP matching, three weeks vacation in the first year and wellness program.
