ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Marketing, the Marketing Specialist supports marketing, communications and engagement activities for NVRC’s recreation and culture programs, services and facilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and coordinate marketing and promotional plans (campaigns, activities, events) that align with overall marketing, communications and engagement plans.
  • Coordinate with staff in planning, developing and implementing marketing and promotional activities.
  • Contribute to annual communications and marketing editorial calendar.
  • Write and produce clear, concise promotional and advertising materials for diverse audiences including posters, brochures, signage, newsletters, blogs, website and social media content, video scripts, editorial content, media releases, advertisements and presentations.
  • Maintain and update website content to ensure it is relevant, up-to-date, serving the needs of all stakeholders, and aligned with organizational priorities and brand guidelines.
  • Manage social media channels and coordinate deployment schedule for all social media content.
  • Monitor and analyze coverage of NVRC in social media; advises of risks, issues, opportunities.
  • Maintain email marketing contact lists; coordinates and distributes external email communications.
  • Collect, interpret and report out on analytics and data related to marketing activities, website usage and social media posts.
  • Support the implementation of community events and activities with live, in-person marketing and social media support.
  • Produce and edit photographs and videos to support marketing activities.
  • Liaise with contractors on services such as web development, social media, video production, graphics and photography; ensure that products meet specifications; coordinates with Finance in the development of contracts.
  • Track expenditures and updates budget-tracking documents.
  • Support development, implementation and promotion of digital feedback and engagement campaigns.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Considerable knowledge of marketing and promotional principles, practices, methods, strategies, materials and techniques.
  • Experience leading successful marketing campaigns.
  • Extensive experience creating and managing web and social media content, email marketing campaigns and related media.
  • Ability to develop, produce and edit a variety of written and graphic content for digital channels including ability to use inclusive language and tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Experience analyzing and reporting on website and social media metrics.
  • Knowledge of current search engine optimization (SEO) best practices and tactics.
  • Photography, videography and video editing skills.
  • Experience with engagement campaigns and feedback tools is an asset.
  • Self-motivated; able to work on several projects simultaneously and respond to competing priorities.
  • Strong customer service orientation, excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work non-standard hours at times.
  • BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle for business use.

EDUCATION

  • Completion of a diploma or university degree in marketing, public relations, communications, digital marketing or a related discipline plus considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

This is a regular full-time position, working 35 hours per week. The pay for this unionized position is $33.56 per hour. This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually. You will be entitled to 3 weeks annual vacation and are eligible to participate in a benefit plan which includes dental and extended health and life insurance. You will be eligible to enroll into the Municipal Pension Plan and you will have access to an Employee Family Assistance Program. You will also have the option to participate in an earned day off program (up to 15 days per year).
