Genome BC leads genomics innovation on Canada’s West Coast and facilitates the integration of genomics into society. A recognized catalyst for government and industry, Genome BC invests in research, entrepreneurship and commercialization in life sciences to address challenges in key sectors such as health, forestry, fisheries, aquaculture, agri-food, energy, mining and environment. Genome BC partners with many national and international public and private funding organizations to drive BC’s bioeconomy. In addition to research, entrepreneurship and commercialization programs, Genome BC is committed to fostering an understanding and appreciation of life sciences among teachers, students and the general public.

Genome BC is looking for a strategic and talented individual to join its leadership team as the Vice President, Corporate Development. Reporting to the President & CEO, this role works with all aspects of the organization and also plays a significant external role, with a mandate to support the ongoing growth of the organization and the sector through effectively communicating Genome BC’s impact in a meaningful and data-driven way. The Vice President supports the delivery of the corporate mandate in close cooperation with other members of the executive team by building relationships with key stakeholders including government and industry partners; delivering cross-functional programs and initiatives; and taking the lead on emerging opportunities.

The ideal Vice President, Corporate Development candidate ideally comes from a scientific-oriented organization where collaboration, teamwork and innovation are key values, and ethics are never compromised. As a member of the executive team and leading a multi-faceted portfolio, you are a senior leader, operating in an environment with a high degree of outreach to stakeholders and partner groups with a need to relate technical and/or scientific concepts to everyday application. You have the relationship skills and strategic capability to work closely with Genome BC’s key government partners and are adept at working with senior officials at all levels within both the public and private sectors. As well, you bring experience in strategic planning, best practices in stakeholder engagement, and knowledge of communications strategies that will help to build opportunities for Genome BC and create continued positive awareness and measurable impact of Genome BC’s work.
