Yvonne Anderson won the 2023 IABC/BC New Navigator Award for her commitment and dedication as an IABC/BC volunteer working in the membership portfolio.
Yvonne was nominated by Naseam Ahmadi, the IABC/BC Director, Membership at the time, who said in her nomination submission, “Yvonne always put her hand up to assist with various Membership Portfolio tasks. She was thoughtful in reflecting on her first year in the portfolio and helped shaped the communications strategy for year two, and this was always done with a cheerful attitude and spirit of fellowship.”
Yvonne has continued her volunteer work with IABC/BC and is currently serving as Director, Volunteer Services. By day, Yvonne works as a Marketing Communications Manager at COBS Bread.
We caught up with Yvonne to ask about what winning a Wave Award means to her.
What was your reaction when you found out you were nominated for a Wave Award?
I was very surprised and flattered to find out that I had been nominated for a Wave Award. I had really enjoyed my experience volunteering on the portfolio and didn’t expect that kind of recognition. It was really just such an honour!
Is there anything you’d like to say to people who are considering nominating someone for a Wave Award this year?
If you’re considering nominating someone, just do it. It’s a really nice way to say thank you to someone you appreciate!
Do you know a communicator who’s worthy of special recognition? Take Yvonne’s advice and nominate them for a 2024 Wave Award. We have categories for communications professionals, IABC/BC volunteers and students. Full information and links to submissions forms are on the Wave Awards page.
