Carmen Wright

Communications Consultant, Carmen Wright Communication + Design

Carmen is a versatile, strategic and practical creative who isn’t afraid to tackle something new. Over the last 25 years, she’s grown through several communication, design and leadership roles, and is currently consulting with clients in the not-for-profit association space. As well, she carves out time to spend writing stories in a variety of mediums, and coaches other writers on book design, production and indie publishing.

As incoming President, Carmen is looking forward to working with an incredible team of professional communicators. Carmen has been a member of IABC since 2006.

Scott Parker

Communications Lead, Best Buy Canada

Scott Parker is a communications professional with more than 10 years of experience in both the private and public sectors.

Scott is an internal communications lead at Best Buy Canada and manages the company’s corporate internal communication channels and company intranet, as well as provides his communications expertise to departments, senior leaders and executives across the organization.

A member of IABC since 2010, Scott has proudly volunteered in various roles for both IABC Edmonton and IABC British Columbia, and is looking forward to serving as vice-president for the 2022 to 2023 BC chapter board year.

Senior Market Manager, TELUS Health

José is a communications professional with more than 12 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He is currently a senior market manager (strategic communications and brand advancement) for TELUS Health, where they are leveraging the power of technology to provide Canadians with better health outcomes.

José has been a member of IABC/BC for almost ten years, and a member of the chapter’s board as director of student development in 2019/20, vice president in 2020/21, and president in 2021/22.

Hilary Chiu

Marketing Manager, Pacific Property Group

Hilary Chiu is a digital marketing and communications specialist experienced in Asia Pacific and Greater China markets. She has a blend of experience in offline media and online marketing, including global / regional product launches and management responsibilities.

In prior roles, Hilary led digital transformation initiatives, integrated communications strategies and data-driven marketing campaigns for global investment banks, professional services firms, IT / technology start-ups, FMCG and travel brands.

Hilary earned her Graduate Diploma in Management from University of London (program developed by London School of Economics and Political Sciences), and Bachelor of Arts in Media and Literary Cultural Studies from Lingnan University.

Sabrina Mohammed

Communications Coordinator and Digital Specialist, UBC

Sabrina is a detail-oriented, energetic and curious communications professional who enjoys new challenges. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University with a Communications Major and a Print & Digital Publishing Minor. After nearly 5 years of working in the communications field, she has gained a wide range of experience but is just getting started and is excited for what the future holds.

She is currently a Communications Coordinator and Digital Specialist at The University of British Columbia where she supports the global engagement strategy through managing the global website, creating digital content and coordinating various other projects.

Sabrina is a new volunteer with IABC and is excited to give back to her profession, learn from her peers and make new connections.

Jane Campbell

Communications Officer, BC Emergency Health Services

Jane Campbell has worked in a variety of communications roles at the Provincial Health Services Authority over the past seven years and is currently a Communications Officer at BC Emergency Health Services focused on media relations and issues management. In 2018, she received an IABC Making Waves award recognizing her work at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute.

Jane has a Master in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and her writing has appeared in a number of literary magazines and anthologies including Best Canadian Essays.

Gillian Redmond

Associate Director, Strategic Communications, Thompson Rivers University

For most of her career, Gillian worked in diverse corporate communications roles at global, publicly listed companies in Vancouver. In 2020, she and her family traded their big city life to start a new adventure in beautiful Kamloops where she holds the role of associate director of strategic communications at Thompson Rivers University. As the Director, Career Development, she looks forward to supporting more members achieve professional certification and connecting mentorship pairs.

Laura Nastasa

Laura is a communications-oriented management professional focusing on integrated communications, marketing, research and business operations strategy.

She has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Communication and Culture from the University of Calgary and an EMBA from Simon Fraser University.

Laura has worked in various markets across Canada and has a diverse background with over 25 years of multifaceted public and private sector experience that includes: corporate communications, marketing, consumer experience, real estate/facilities, strategic planning, business development, business operations/transformation, financial/project management, contract negotiation, writing, and research.

She has a strong interest in experiential marketing and physical-virtual space convergence in communications and stakeholder engagement and looks forward to connecting with the IABC/BC community as Co-Director, Events and Professional Development.

Sarah Saghah

she/her

Sarah Saghah is a marketing and communications professional with a background in writing, research, digital marketing, event planning and new program development. She currently works in digital strategy, where she has created multiple record-breaking organic social media campaigns.

Sarah previously volunteered with IABC/BC’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) as the Coordinator (2020 – 2021) and Manager (2021 – 2022), where she hosted meetings for members and professionals to share their thoughts, insights and experiences on different communication topics. She is eager to step into leading the events portfolio alongside her co-director, and previous SIGs director, Jessica.

Outside of her full-time and volunteer work, Sarah teaches yoga, barre and fusion classes. You will often find her taking a dance, spin or aerial yoga class, or attempting to walk her cats.

Rosabel Bong

Scientific Communications Specialist, AbCellera

Moving away from the bench, Rosabel became fascinated by the art and science of communication. She upskilled and gained broad exposure within the communications profession. Now, over ten years after studying Biotechnology, Rosabel finds herself in a perfect full-circle moment—doing what she loves in a familiar space—crafting messages and working on the digital comms portfolio for a tech company in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Within the IABC/BC community, Rosabel has been part of the Marketing & Communications team since 2020. As Co-director, Rosabel focuses on strategies to improve and streamline processes and ways to provide valuable volunteer experiences for her team. This is Rosabel’s second year as Director.

Anjee is a Vancouver based communications professional with more than 10 years of experience in the public and private sectors. A former TV news producer and PR consultant connecting people to brands. Anjee is currently a Communications Manager with Best Buy Canada where she works with the digital retail and IT teams to manage projects and deliver complex messaging through creative tactics.

Anjee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Simon Fraser University and a Diploma of Technology in Broadcast and Media Communications from BCIT. She is also a freelance writer and a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur.

Naseam Ahmadi, M.Sc

Senior Consultant, Earnscliffe Strategy Group

Naseam is a Senior Consultant with Earnscliffe’s strategic communications team, bringing over ten years of experience in communications, advocacy and community engagement.

As an experienced storyteller and strategist, Naseam currently advances communications objectives for clients from a wide range of sectors including health care, non-profit, life science and government. She is an organized project manager, setting clear objectives, evaluating KPIs and tracking team accountabilities to deliver high quality products.

Naseam earned a Master of Science from the University of British Columbia and a Public Relations Certificate from Simon Fraser University.

Susan Seto

Communications Officer, BC Cancer

Susan Seto is a communications professional with experience working for large complex organizations in health care, government and law. In her current role as a redevelopment communications officer for BC Cancer, she leads the communications for capital projects that will expand cancer care across our province.

She holds a Master of Global Business degree from the University of Victoria and Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Simon Fraser University. As the Director, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), she looks forward to fostering opportunities for IABC members to connect, learn and exchange knowledge about timely topics in the communications industry.

Paige Strand

Director of Marketing and Communications, irlabs

Paige Strand is a communications leader with experiences across the investor relations, financial technology, hotel, real estate, restaurant, automotive and publishing industries. Listed on The Peak’s ‘Emerging Leaders of 2022’ list, she enjoys speaking at conferences and panels to share ideas and learn from others. Renowned and recruited for supporting organizations through major transformation, Strand recently completed her Prosci Change Management certification to further exercise leadership in both communications and change environments. She is the Director of Marketing and Communications for irlabs and sits on the Economic Development Advisory Committee for the City of New Westminster. She enjoys mentoring, writing for the Catalyst and evaluating for IABC’s Gold Quill Awards program.

Winnie Kwok

Employee Communications Manager, RBC Global Asset Management

Winnie is a passionate communications professional experienced in internal communications, employee engagement, project management and change communications. She is currently Manager, Communications – Employee Engagement at RBC Global Asset Management and has over 10 years of experience working for multinational financial institutions, focused on connecting communications with corporate strategy and building an inclusive and engaging culture.

Raised in Vancouver, Winnie earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Simon Fraser University, before moving to Shanghai and then Hong Kong. Having worked abroad for over a decade, she’s known for her collaborative spirit, agility and ability to adapt.

As a new IABC member and volunteer, Winnie looks forward to serving the Board and broader Communications community – connecting people to opportunities that help build on their strengths and developing skills that present new career trajectories.
