Congratulations to chapter member Laurie Dawkins, ABC, MC, SCMP, for being named one of five 2025 IABC Fellows!
This recognition highlights the extraordinary contributions Laurie has made to the communications profession. She now becomes the fifth member of our chapter to earn this title, joining Jean Cormier, Tudor Williams, Jennifer Wah and Juli Holloway.
Laurie is a deeply engaged member of IABC at the local, national, and international levels. She’s a dedicated mentor to emerging communicators, and her commitment to excellence has been recognized with more than 26 industry awards for her professional contributions and her volunteer work.
What truly sets Laurie apart goes beyond titles and accolades. Her warmth, empathy, and authenticity make her a trusted leader and a beloved colleague. Being named an IABC Fellow is a tremendous achievement—and in Laurie’s case, one that feels as natural as it is remarkable.
“The most special thing about being named a Fellow has been the lovely stories coming forth from IABC friends, colleagues, and past and present co-workers, in which they’ve shared with me the impact I had on their personal and professional lives over the past 25+ years. It turns out there are all of these moments, where truly, I had no idea of courage I may have instilled in someone to try something new, to stay the course, or to really believe in themselves and take on work that advances the reputation of our profession in big ways and small. What a gift that is, to know that now… while I am still – *ahem* – young and vibrant 😉”
As Vice President, Communications and Engagement at Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), Laurie leads internal and external communications across all organizational portfolios and plays a critical role in how PHSA connects with staff, partners and the public.
She holds international professional credentials (Accredited Business Communicator and Strategic Communication Management Professional) and in 2017 was named a Master Communicator of Canada by IABC Canada.
