Whether you’re new to the field or a seasoned communicator, there has never been a better time to join our B.C. community or renew your membership. Still doubting? Check out these five career-building opportunities to make the most out of your membership.

IABC British Columbia is a proud supporter of the Global Communications Certification Council´s certification program, and we are excited to host a next certification exam on Tuesday, January 26. Plus, as a member you receive a 75% discount on the application fee!

As much as we all love saving money, that’s just the start of the benefits and opportunities that come with your membership. We could easily spout off a laundry list of reasons, but it really boils down to five main perks that will set you up for success.

  1. Connection to a strong network of peers
Above everything, IABC/BC is a community that will support you through every stage of your career. Our members come from all kinds of backgrounds, work in various industries, and have a range of experience. We are here for you, whether it’s a quick (virtual) chat, mentorship advice, best practices, or a referral to a new job opportunity or contract work. Whenever you need advice or guidance, there are 9,000 communicators you can go to, locally and internationally, in-person and through our online hub.
  2. Recognition as a communications professional
At IABC, we honour the excellence and best practices in organizational communications at the international, national and chapter level. Whether you’re pursuing your first Silver Leaf or Gold Quill Award, elevating your career with a professional and internationally recognized certification, being designated as an IABC Fellow, we take every opportunity to celebrate your contribution to organizations, the community, our chapter and the profession. Plus, as a member, you receive a significant discount on applications worth basically the membership fee!
  3. Access to exclusive resources
No matter which sector or career stage you’re in, there’s always more to learn. Stay current with the latest trends and hot topics by gaining access to online articles, books and award-winning case studies on a multitude of business communications forms. As a member you get special treatment – discount on courses and events (including our international World Conference!), monthly member-only webinars and other exclusive resources. In addition to being a resource for lifelong learning, the IABC Academy courses also allow you to earn credits toward application or annual maintenance of your professional certification.
  4. Leads on jobs
Brows postings for career opportunities at every level from all over the world on our popular job board. Looking to hire a communications professional? The Job Centre will connect you with a qualified talent pool. You and your organization can list job postings for free on our website which will also be distributed to over 1300 subscribers in our monthly newsletter.
  5. Contribution to your career and community
Enhance your leadership skills and give back to your (local) community by getting involved with the B.C. chapter through volunteering, joining the Board or our Mentorship program, offering communications support to non-profit organizations, sharing your expertise as a guest speaker, or sponsoring.
